Walken is a four-piece alt/pop/rock band from Melbourne, who's members find inspiration in the music of such bands as Faith No More, R.E.M., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Regurgitator & The Sharp. More than simply the sum of their influences, they have forged a unique sound whilst retaining elements of classic songwriting - strong riffs, melodies, lyrics and ideas.

Walken was founded in Melbourne on 5th August 2000 by Heath Smith, Andrew Bowie, Daniel Soussan and Bruce Chan. The band began writing music and played a couple of local venues. More gigs were stalled however with Daniel’s eleven-month tour of Europe. During this time Walken recorded their debut single ‘Glory’ at Melbourne’s Hothouse Studios under producer Craig Harnath (Rocket Science, Dallas Crane). After the recording, Bruce left the band to pursue other musical interests. Bruce was replaced by Leigh Baines in April 2002.

During the next 18 months of playing shows and recording demos, they built a strong local fan-base. In February 2004 they returned to Hothouse to record their debut EP ‘Current Melbourne Temperature’. Due for release in July 2004, the louder, more accomplished songs more accurately represent Walken’s sound, with the band’s talent and style having matured considerably. The rest of the year holds a number of other firsts for the band, with more gigs and heightened promotional activities, including their first video clip for the song ‘Blue Sky’.

That takes us up until the mid 1998's where Heath and I are determined to do 'top' Foo covers and post them on the internet proving once and for all that only crap people post dodgy internet cover songs to fan sites. Unbeknowst to them, the musical wheel of fate was turning, and they would eventually be in seperate bands, Walken and The Junkers. But then again it's not like they were ever married.
