Recording 'Bruce Drums' Demos

On this day (one of two days, we can't remember when the second day was) we recorded drums for what would eventually become the "Bruce Drums Demos".

Drums were recorded at Heath's place in the lounge room via a stand alone 8 track harddisk recorder (hired). Wires connected a monitor amp to the bathroom where Andrew and Daniel sat playing guitar and bass. Heath was in the shower for extra sound proofing.

We played the songs "live" in this setup multiple times. Later we chose the best take and demoed the other instruments over that using our home computers.

Drums on these days were recorded for One Of These Days, Blue Sky, Mosquito, Free Ride, Give It Up, Away, So Over It.

Guitars were recorded at Andrew's place over the next few months. Guitar demos were sent through to Heath+Daniel via MP3 for approval.

Once guitars were mostly done bass and vocals were completed at Heath's place.

Mixing continued for eternity... or until we gave up. This set of demos + the "Bakehouse Drums" demos became the set of songs we used to decide which songs to record for Current Melbourne Temperature.

Mosquito from this set of demos was sent to Triple J for Unearthed. It was the first song we finished mixing.
